HOW TO GET TO THE CONGRESS VENUE
Airport: International Airport of Geneva - km 8,7 (about 20 min. by taxi or about 40
min. by train and bus).
Railway Station: Gare Cornavin - km 2,8 (about 10 min. by taxi or about 20 min.
by bus).
Public transports of geneva (TPG): the buses, listed below, are connecting the
Centre Médical Universitaire (CMU) to the Cornavin Station.

CAR PARKING
Arriving by car please follow the sign “Lombard underground Hôpital Parking” (paying
parking) close to the congress venue. Please ask the Organizing Secretariat OIC for
further information about costs and access.
COFFEE BREAKS
During morning and afternoon coffee breaks, delegates are kindly requested to visit the
coffee area located close to the exhibition area both on the first floor and on the second
floor of the congress venue. Coffee breaks will be also an opportunity to visit the technical
exhibition and to be in touch with the representatives of the exhibiting companies.
Please note that during both coffee and lunch breaks, poster authors should be present
by their posters in the poster area.
BOX LUNCHES
Box lunches for delegates are included in the congress registration fee and will be available
in the Lunch Area close to the exhibition area on April 17th and on April 18th from
12.30 to 13.00.
Lunch tickets, included in the congress kit, have to be handed to the caterers.
Santen and Anteis will offer box lunches before the beginning of their Mini Symposia
taking place in the Auditorium A250 respectively on April 17th and April 18th (13.00-
14.00).
CME ACCREDITATION
The scientific programme of this Congress has been submitted for accreditation to the
European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), an institution
of the European Union of the Medical Specialists (UEMS).
Registered delegates interested in the above programme will receive an evaluation form
together with the congress kit at the Secretariat Desk on site.
Programme evaluation forms must be returned to the Secretariat Desk duly filled in before
departure from the congress venue, otherwise no credits will be granted.
European CME credits will be granted according to the indications set by UEMS and
provided for participants regularly attending the planned scientific sessions. Each medical
specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the
educational activity.
The official certificate for CME credits will be mailed to delegates after the end of the
Congress: it is important that all personal data are duly filled in the forms to get the
certificate after the Congress.
European Accreditation is granted by the EACCME in order to allow participants to validate
the credits obtained at this activity in their home European country.

EXHIBITION
An exhibition of the latest pharmaceutical products, electromedical devices and scientific
publications is planned. The exhibition will be located on the first and second floor of the
Centre Médical Universitaire, where also coffee and lunch breaks will be set up.
From April 16th to April 18th the opening hours of the exhibition will be corresponding
to the congress sessions as follows:
Thursday, April 16th 15.00–19.00
Friday, April 17th 9.00–17.00
Saturday, April 18th 8.30–18.00
GENEVA HIGHLIGHTS
When visiting Geneva there are some absolute musts:
• Take a walk on the Geneva lakefront, to enjoy the world renowned jet d’eau water
fountain and flower clock.
• Visit Saint Peter’s Cathedral, dating as early as 1160 where you can climb up for a
spectacular panorama of the city and Lake.
• Enjoy a walk around the old town with 16th, 17th and 18th century architecture and
unwind at Place du Bourg-de-four, a warm meeting place where Genevans gather
around its 18th century flowered fountain to enjoy the many Bistros and Cafes.
• Place Neuve and Parc des Bastions are a stone’s throw from the lake in downtown
Geneva, a square which hosts the Grand-Theatre (opera house) and Victoria Hall.
A stroll along the Reformation wall in Parc des Bastions illustrates the history of
Protestantism along 450 years.
• A few Tram stops from downtown Geneva is the beautiful suburb of Carouge;
developed around the mid 18th century when given to the Kingdom of Sardinia,
it has retained its Mediterranean feel. Its bustling streets, quaint and trendy
boutiques, numerous bistros and restaurants give Carouge an irresistibly warm
atmosphere that people rave about.
• International Geneva, the Capital of Humanity, cannot go amiss.Take a walk around
Place des Nations, housing the UN building, and many of its affiliates and get a
feel for the stir of having so many international organizations in one area.
• Geneva is proud to house numerous museums and art galleries catering to all
interests and it is up to you to choose between archeology, nature, fine or a
applied arts or science and technology. The main museums and galleries are

• If one has time for one of the many walking tours that Geneva
has to offer, then by all means do, it is worth every minute.
We suggest a visit to the Geneva tourism office at the tip of the lake at Rue du Mont
blanc that offers a useful resource to planning your stay. Alternatively, the website

TRANSPORTATION IN GENEVA BY TAXI
Taxis in Geneva are numerous (more than 450) and available at all times (24/24 hours
service, 7/7 days). They can be ordered by phone, hailed in the street or found at about
60 authorized taxi ranks in town and at the airport and the main train station as well as
outside hotels.
Fares between airport and city range from about CHF 30.- to CHF 35.- depending on
traffic conditions, time of day and number of passengers. The fare within Geneva is the
amount shown on the taximeter. The driver will requests a small extra charge for luggage.
Tip and VAT are included.
GENEVA’S PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
Since January 1st 2007, every visitor receives a free Geneva Transport Card upon
check-in to their hotel establishment with validity for the entire duration of their stay
(including the full departure day).
From January 2008, visitors can pick up a free ticket for public transport from the machine
in the baggage collection area at the arrival level of Geneva International Airport.
This Unireso ticket, offered by Geneva International Airport, allows visitors to use public
transport in Geneva free for a period of 80 minutes.
GENEVA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
A great advantage is the airport’s proximity to the city center: 5 km (3 miles). A direct
rail connection links the airport to the downtown railway station in 6 minutes.
The terminal has all the facilities a modern traveller could wish for. It is designed
for speedy and simple check-in, and has essential services such as exchange, information,
restaurants and a business centre at strategic points.

CLIMATE
Situated at 374 m above sea level, Geneva enjoys a gentle and temperate continental
climate. Winds from the west bring warmth and moisture while the north
wind brings much colder, though often sunny weather. Weather variations can
occur very suddenly.
ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
The electricity currently used throughout Switzerland is 230 Volts, A.C.-50 cycles.
If you travel to Switzerland with a device that does not accept 230 Volts, you will
need a voltage converter.
CURRENCY
The official currency in Switzerland is Swiss Franc (CHF).
Traditional banking hours are Monday through Friday from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
Banks are closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Some automatic exchanging
machines are located outside the major banks to provide 24-hour service.
Most hotels, restaurants, shops and department stores accept payment in
foreign currency, as well as by credit cards.
TELEPHONE
The international access code for Switzerland is +41. The outgoing code is 00
followed by the relevant country code. The city code for Geneva is (0)22. There
are surcharges on international calls made from hotels; it is often cheaper to use
public telephone boxes in post offices, which use phone cards. The local mobile
phone operators use GSM networks and have roaming agreements with most international
operators.
TIPPING
In restaurants, hotels, hairdressers, etc. the service charge is now, by law, included
in the price. It is not necessary to add a tip, though you may do so at your own
discretion to show appreciation of exceptionally good service.
