Welcome Reception – Palacio de Congresos de Madrid

After the Opening Ceremony, welcome cocktails and canapés will be served in the Main Foyer (Registration Area) and Exhibition Area, to allow everyone to meet other delegates and to visit exhibition booths.
EGS Social Dinner – Palacio de Congresos de Madrid
Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 – h. 20.00
The EGS Social Dinner will be held on Wednesday, September 15th at the Palacio de Congresos de Madrid.
As seats for the EGS Social Dinner are limited, participants are kindly requested to book well in advance and seats will be confirmed upon availability. On site requests are strongly discouraged and on site registrations will be only accepted according to available seats. For further information about registration fee, please refer to the Registration page.
Confirmation for the participation will be made to registered participants by a coupon, to be found in the congress kit. The coupon must be exchanged in the entrance ticket at the Social Events Desk, within the date and time indicated on it.
Entry to the Palacio de Congresos for the dinner will not be permitted without the entrance ticket.
The details of the event may change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Half day - Panoramic Madrid and Walking Tour
Thursday, September 16 (am)
This sightseeing tour allows seeing the big picture of Madrid city. Starting from Paseo de la Castellana, financial district of Azca, Kio Towers, the new financial district with the four highest towers in Madrid, then Santiago Bernabeu football stadium and on to Plaza Colón with its statue of Columbus and the National Library; then Calle Alcalá, under the arches of the Puerta de Alcalá and stopping a moment in the Las Ventas Bullring. Continuing through Paseo del Prado, passing by the three major museums in Madrid: the Prado Museum, the Thyssen Museum, and the Reina Sofia Museum. There is a stop on Atocha Station to see the tropical garden inside. Then along the Gran Via, visiting the commercial district of Madrid, Plaza de España, stopping to see the monument to Don Quixote, and then on to the Royal Palace where we alight and continue our visit on foot through 16th century Madrid - Madrid of the Austrias (the Hapsburg dynasty).

Full day - Excursion to Toledo

Toledo - 70 km south of Madrid: Toledo was the capital of Spain until 1561, and is known as the city of three cultures because of the harmonious coexistence and cooperative task of Christian, Arab and Jewish translators in the famous Toledo Translation School. The visit includes the marvellous Primate Cathedral, St Thomas's Church with its famous painting by El Greco, as well as synagogues, mosques and spectacular St John's Church (San Juan de Reyes) and St. Maria Blanca Synagogue. The city has been declared a World Heritage Site.
