"
Palacio de Congresos de Madrid" is located in the heart of Madrid, along the famous Paseo de la Castellana, very close to the best hotels, restaurants and shops of the city. It offers numerous polyvalent premises for up to 2,000 people and after 40 years celebrating events is the most experienced convention centre of the country accessible by all means of transport.
The Palacio de Congresos has its principal facade on the corner of the Calle de General Perón with the Paseo de la Castellana at the same height as the Santiago Bernabéu football stadium and close to the "big apple" Azca.
Designed by the architect Pablo Pintado y Riba and inaugurated in 1970, the Palace was one of the first modern buildings to be built in this financial and commercial area of Madrid where today the highest skyscrapers in the city are to be found.
In contrast to its surroundings, the Palacio de Congreso is a horizontal-shaped building, combining the geometric volumes of two parallelepipeds with that of a truncated cylinder. The building’s functionality and capacity for adaptation, together with its ideal location, have kept it fully booked as a place for holding all types of national and international meetings and events.
The most distinctive emblem of the building and its most widely known image is without doubt that of the principal facade - the unmistakable mural decorating its frieze was incorporated in 1980 based on a design by Joan Miró.
